Hailing from DFW, new alt-country band The Waking Snakes presents a modern, authentic, and thoroughly rocking take on beloved country and Americana sensibilities. Releasing their debut content in 2025, the Snakes consist of lead guitarist Vincent Saldivar, bassist Aaron Richter, drummer Billy Hildreth, and singer and guitarist Matthew Lane. Their music filters the powerful essence of country traditions through fresh storytelling with an urgent and upfront musical style that’s as much Johnny Thunders as it is Johnny Cash.  

The Waking Snakes draw inspiration from family legends, their own lived experiences, and the magic of reading between the lines. As three lifelong Texans and a Kentucky boy, they come by their multifaceted alternative sound honestly. They grew up listening to generations of vibrant country music--and just like Uncle Tupelo and the Drive-By Truckers, they know in their bones that country life has always been more complex than the stereotypes let on. 

The Snakes bring this truth to life through their music. With a commitment to authentic songwriting and engaging live performances, The Waking Snakes connect with audiences on an individual level. Taking influence from hometown heroes Old 97s and Slobberbone, their vivid songs combine thoughtful lyrics and powerful instrumentation.
